Clouds on the Horizon

A soul to drown

A small smile broke the surface at the woman in a very delighted manner, “A pleasure Ingrid.” Soon her own questions seemed to turn the mood, albeit in a direction she didn’t anticipate. Turning an ear away the mare seemed almost annoyed at her words. Half-disheartened and half with a renewed attempt at taking care of how she stated things. Did she come off too harsh or a little too over enthusiastic? Her thoughts were calmed once the woman stated she at least had a point or two. There was still a little part of her that worried she made her companion feel bad or even defensive. However, if it leads to more answers or at least improvements Tempest knew best than to take it too close to heart.

Tempest debated thoughtfully for a few moments. “A stallion about your height, who is mostly white with a scar under his eye and a potentially dark mane?” She questioned though it was mostly to herself rather than Ingrid. “Well, it’s better than what we started with!” Tempest exclaimed pleasantly. When the mare shrugged and spoke again Tempest gave her a thoughtful nod. “If not a trail, perhaps a trap? I am sure he is wanted for a good reason, so there has to be something he wants or values. If we found out what, one could simply lure him and you can claim your prize, for lack of a better term.” Though the issue still stood that Ingrid didn’t seem to know much about the stallion. Laying a trap though it could be effective would take time, and she wasn’t sure that the woman before her truly had the time nor if she desired to wait that long.

Focusing her gaze on Ingrid after her snort the woman quickly followed up with a new question. Tempest shifted her weight idly pawing the earth with her left front hoof. “I washed up here because of the storm truthfully. I have been roaming since I was a yearling, though I cannot explain how I wound up here. The waves and currents aren’t very easy on the body or mind.” She chuffed lightly, taking a moment to truly consider what she would do now that she was here. “I was looking for fresh grazing and a place to drink but on the more sincere side of things, I wouldn’t mind finding a few friends.” The woman spoke with a shrug. Even though she wasn’t sure Ingrid was her friend, the woman seemed nice enough and maybe would even be interested in such a bond. Admittedly, Tempest wasn’t even certain how to broach the subject or if in time it might naturally occur.

Her weight shifted once again as the sound of the waves crashing soothed her spirits. “What can you tell me about this place? Are there any worthwhile places to see or things to do?” Surely this couldn’t be all there was to the land. “More places also means a better opportunity for me to help locate your stallion.” Tempest said with a light tone and a more than excited grin with a glow that reached all the way to her eyes. Not only could she explore but she could help her new, what she would call, friend. Maybe she could even make a few more friends and acquaintances on the way. Delighted to the point she could almost dance, Tempest, stilled herself with a sense of inner calm. It wouldn’t pay to look like a silly foal right now.
