As her mate reached out to lip at her forelock and cheek, the inner witch in her urged her to squeal or kick out, toss her head, even. Just something to show her usual spunk, but her body refused out of lack of energy. She just couldn't think of anything much past sleep. She flicked a single ear at his murmured words, taking encouragement from them but she could sense the worry in his voice and it only irritated her more. Didn't he know better than to think her a lost cause? Even as she spoke the colt's name, he moved toward them, sizing up his own father like an opponent rather than a bigger adult. He bumped his nose against Rougaru's leg and when his father reached out to ruffle his forelock, he acted as his mother would and let out a tiny squeal, tossing his head with a snort as he lashed out with a fore leg. When her mate next asked after her, she hesitated, not wanting to be truthful but not wanting to lie either. She heard all the whispers of Zjeena's departure and it tore her to the core, knowing her best friend on the islands was gone. Finding Zjeena was like finding her other half and she hated losing that. She knew Rougaru had lost just as much as she had and her heart ached a little for him even in her own weakness. "I'm....breathing." She finally managed to mumble. It certainly wasn't a lie. She turned her head just enough to meet his gaze, her blue and brown offering a little twinkle of sarcasm. She wanted him to know she wasn't about to die on him. She was too strong for that, too stubborn.
