comfort me with apples, for i am sick of love

She is not what he expected. Given that all he had to go off of was his experience with Feray, he had expected someone similarly dusted in a patina of small spots and speckles. Instead, she was lean and painted in large swathes of white, although he could not deny that the suspicious look she wore was strikingly familiar. She was pretty in a different way, and seemed to wear her confidence as a mantle that could not be shaken or dislodged. Beneath the vastly different patterns of their coats, however, lingered a similar influence in build and behavior, which Solomon took as an indication that this was the mare Feray had described. The sight of his glass-faced girl's smile on this stranger's lips prompts an unexpected smile from him, and he wonders what other similarities Evren might be hiding.

A part of him knows that he shouldn't be having such thoughts about the sibling of the woman he loved, but he couldn't help but find his gaze sliding briefly over the feminine lines of her body. Had they met in different circumstances, Solomon was entirely certain that he would have done what he could to sway her to his side and to keep her there if he could. There was always something he found irresistibly attractive in a confident woman, especially if she made him work for what it was that he wanted.

"I hope so," he begins in answer to her question, although he has not yet decided how to phrase what he must ask. Solomon had not expected Roheryn to demand time in addition to answers, and had therefore not bothered to ask Feray what her family thought of her prior mate. For all that Solomon knew, Evern would take offense to his request out of loyalty to the Badlands King.

Before he can elaborate, recognition seems to erase some of the suspicions in her gaze and he watches as realization dawns. It's a strange feeling to be known before he introduces himself, but Solomon attempts to roll with it, hoping that what Feray had shared of him had been focused on the good, rather than the bad. With a lopsided smile, the Cove king nods in affirmation of her assumption and does his best not to sober at the mention of her absence.

"I know," he answers with a sad chuckle that somehow managed to be only slightly strained despite the conflicting tides of emotion in his mind. "I'm actually here to talk to you, Evren." Solomon extends his muzzle toward her gently for an exchange of breath if she will allow it, his gaze still locked on her own. It's surprisingly hard to think with her this close, with that same shrewd look he'd come to love and the scent of the season lingering in the air, but he attempts to wrangle his base nature and focus on how he's going to pose his request.

"I was hoping that you could do me a favor… or, well, two if I'm honest." The lopsided grin resurfaced, even as his heart contracted at the thought of Feray and Aysu and Esmeray alone with Roheryn. "First, I was hoping that you would be willing to check in on her. She… wanted," he said with some difficulty, although he had a hard time reconciling Feray's duty-driven desire to go to the Badlands with any kind of want. "She wanted to go home first, even though she was afraid of Roheryn's reaction. And while I am forbidden from checking on her," he offers the latter with some derision. Even though Solomon knew that he would honor Roheryn's demands in order to cause fewer problems for Feray, it did not mean that he liked accepting the yoke of Roheryn's authority. Leaving Feray and the girl's wellbeing up to the pale little man was not something that he was taking well, and it showed.

"You are not." His gaze lasered in on her then, hopeful and intense. This mare owed him nothing, and yet he had to hope that she would be compassionate enough to do him this favor. If nothing else, he would find a way to make it up to her somehow.
