turn men into beasts

Time seemed to tick by ever so slowly as he held Kvothe. Her wails of grief and tears that stained his silvery mane were not something he could or would ever forget. Nor could he forget this. The loss of a life he had cared dearly about even if he had been absent. It would not happen again. He could not allow it to happen again. Briefly, Tyr squeezed his multicolored eyes shut as he did his best to keep himself together. His own grief could not come out as her’s did, he had to stay strong, or else they might both be sucked into the void he felt pulling at his heels.

Not once did Tyr move. His hooves planted like a giant oak tree as he tried to remain just as strong. But when Kvothe met his eyes at last, his own were tear rimmed that had not fallen. Though she silently pleaded with him, and as badly as he wished to give into those pleas, Tyr did not have the power it would take to resurrect their son. If he could only take back the mistake of leaving them here, then absolutely none of this would have happened. Along with other things that he did not know about.

“Come with me.” Tyr quietly said, his deep voice still somewhat choked with his unshed tears. He wasn’t quite sure if it was a question or a command, but he no longer wished to be here and he didn’t want to leave her behind. “Come with me, Kvothe.” he said again, his voice somewhat clearer and stronger, but still hollow with his bottled up emotions.

Tyr glanced over to the battered body of their child one last time. Though it sickened him to think of what would happen once they were gone, they could not stop the inevitable. It was a fate they would all face, he could only hope he would not have to see it again with such a young soul. Tearing his gaze away, Tyr forced each hoof to take a step as he began to head to the Lagoon. But not without first making sure that Kvothe followed him, as he would not leave without her ever again.
