This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. FROM NOW ON IF YOU DON'T PUT YOUR MESSAGE AT THE END OF THE STRING IT WILL BE DELETED Messages Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.
For Roy Crowshaw

I have tried three times to reply to your email regarding Sgt J. Baron 7th BN. Sadly each email has bounced back as undeliverable. The email address you gave is clearly wrong. This is your email and address as I received it...

I am a retired serviceman and my interest is researching soldiers through their medals and documents. I have recently purchased a set of medals including the Efficiency Medal for Sgt Baron. I know the Battalion was converted to Royal Engineers Searchlight and then to Royal Artillery. Do you have any information such as enlistment dates for this soldier.

Kind Regards

Roy Crowshaw

This was my reply to your enquiry.....

Good Evening Roy
Many thanks for your email.
I will assume that you have seen the feature page for the 7th Bn on the LF Web Site? If not click on this link and scroll down to WWII.†
None of the information contained therein may be reproduced without permission and is subject to copywrite.
Now then.
As you will most probably know details of WWII Veterans, particularly Service Records†are not held locally. It would therefore be necessary for you to make an application to the Historical Disclosure Department of the Army Records Office in Glasgow. I have placed a link below that explains how to apply. It is normally only family members with the consent of the NOK who can obtain a record. However bona fide researchers can also obtain Service Records if they can show justification. It will though in most cases be a redacted record. The Fusilier Museum Bury DO NOT hold any personal records of WWII Veterans and they too would refer you to the Army Records Disclosure Office in Glasgow. It would be the only source†of the information you seek. Sadly due to the pandemic a severe backlog in dealing with applications has built up and it is taking several months to obtain a Service Record. A fee of £30 is payable irrespective of the results and must be paid " up front ". A copy of the subjects' death certificate must accompany an application along with the fee.
This is the link to the GovUK Web Site.
