. CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site
There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities.
This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only.
We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund.
Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.
Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.

Robert (Bob) Gillespie 1937 -2021
After leaving the Lancashire Fusiliers, Bob continued playing in the Manchester music scene, including Tv and radio. He worked with the Derek Hilton Trio and in the late 60’s and early 70’s he played with Tony Christie, Matt Monroe, Shirley Bassey, The Syd Lawrence Band & Maynard Ferguson. He was also musical director and drummer with Lovelace Watkins and toured the world with him.
In 1980/1981 he emigrated with his family to Sydney, Australia. There he played with the Ed Wilson Band and toured with The Glen Miller Orchestra. In the mid 1980’s he joined the NSW Police Band. After his retirement from the Police Band he continued to play with Les Brown (Band of Renown) on a 6 week cruise of the Bahamas. They used the original Doris Day arrangements with some of the original players. Bob enjoyed playing in and around Sydney including their RSL Clubs (Returned and Services League) until his health deteriorated these last few years.
I've asked David Platt if he would kindly send a card/letter of condolence to his brother and family who live in Ashton - under - Lyne. If there is an ex Lancashire Fusilier in Sydney it would be wonderful if he could attend the funeral.
I'll be asking Dennis when he's better to place Bob on the LF's At Rest Page. Graham has given permission for this to be done.
