Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

for the first time in forever

Roisin was not blind. She understood that Iscariot struggled with his own inadequacy in the same way that she had in the days following her mother's second round of captivity. It was part of what had made him the only one she felt comfortable confiding to when her grief had seemed overwhelming. However, unlike her, he would have no moment of redemption when his family was restored to him.

She understood his deformity, of course. Iscariot had been the only adult she'd been able to win against when she had been young, and even then, she had realized almost instantly that it wasn't as fun to win as she had thought it would be. The real gift of Iscariot's company was his patience and his kindness. The way he always made sure to include all of the children, no matter how many of them gathered together, and he always had the best suggestions to make sure everything was fair. When Roisin got far too excited for one idea or another, he had a way of reminding her she was being too bossy without making her feel like an infant in need of scolding.

His touch on her skin helped to ground her back to reality and she melted into the reassurance, taking her first deep breath since landing on the muggy shores of the Lagoon. However, in the silence that stretched after her question, she found a new level of fear that she had not yet experienced. It was bad enough knowing that Faolain had come to any harm on her behalf, but if she had been the cause of the Ridge Queen losing her baby, Roisin wasn't sure if she could ever forgive herself.

I don't know, he confesses, and strangely this gives her some sort of hope. At least it wasn't a sure answer confirming her guilt in the matter. When he goes on to say that he believed she was fine, Roi allowed a sigh of relief past her lips, only to suck it back in in surprise a moment later. I thought you might need me more, he confesses and she feels her cheeks flush beneath the golden amber of her fur. "I do," she whispers, barely audible.

She falls silent again the moment he begins speaking again, his sorrow practically tangible in the air between them. "No," she protests, her ears tipping back in frustration. "You shouldn't have," she emphasizes with a stomp of her forehoof. "If Faolain couldn't win against him, we wouldn't have stood a chance. And you mean too much to me for you to just… to just, to just sacrifice yourself because of pride."

Her face fell a moment later and she worried at her lip with her teeth before finally deciding to simply confess the words that tripped across her mind. "I need you, and- and well, I don't want you to get hurt."

Ashamed and nervous her gaze danced away from him to duck to the ocean where she'd last seen Tyr leave. Desperate for some other topic to fill the sudden deafening silence that she imagined, her gaze remained there while she spoke again. "He went back to the Ridge. What do you think he wants? Do you think he's going after my mom?"
