Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

I CANNOT BE ALTERED

He hated seeing a mare look so defeated, so accepting of a fate she didn't want. It seemed so unfair to him, and he found himself wanting to demand something be done about it, though he wasn't naive enough to actually believe that would get either of them anywhere. No, they might have to be more cunning about it, however he was to help her. And he would find a way; he was determined. He couldn't just leave her to this and go on with his life. He wasn't raised that way. The wary way in which she watched him only made his resolve that much stronger. Her distrust of stallions here was obvious and he could only imagine what made her feel that way. He didn't even want to think about it.

She seemed skeptical the moment he made his offer, but he also saw the glimmer of hope in her eyes and it made his chest tighten with even more determination. Yes, he would help her, no matter what. He dipped his head at her questions. "Yes, he would, as would I. I know I'm probably no match for any of the stallions here yet, but he is." She still seemed suspicious, finally asking why and he sighed softly. "Because I hate the thought of anyone being forced to a life they don't want. My mother was taken from me not long after I was born and I could have grown up resenting the world for that, but instead, I chose to embrace life and all it had to offer. Choice is a big part of who I am today. If this is the only thing I can offer during my time in the Lagoon, then I'll feel like I accomplished something worth talking about. I didn't have to come here, but it was either me or another one of my brothers. I volunteered for them and now I have to make that choice worthwhile."

He watched her features, waiting for her response. She didn't have to believe him, of course, but every word he spoke was true and maybe in time, she would see that. Maybe she could at least offer him the confirmation he needed to set the next part of the plan in motion.
