Welcome back to The Boost!
This event lasts for six weeks, from June 1st until July 16th. Over the course of the event you can earn tokens for writing. At the end of the event, you’ll be able to trade your tokens for prizes.
If you have any unclaimed tokens from the previous Boost event, you can carry them over to this one.
Earning tokens:
- Writing 100 words IC: 1 token
- Completing your first post of the event: +5 tokens
- Request a prompt, word or worldbuilding feature (e.g. shamanimal, flora) in #general from any player and incorporate it into a post: +3 tokens
- Complete an exploration or impetus quest/prompt: +3 tokens
- Complete a ren quest: +4 tokens
- Eat your writing frog: +5 tokens (can be done once a week through the event, 6 times total)
You can keep track of your tokens on your board. Tokens per 100 words of writing are accumulative, so if you write 350 words in one post and 460 words in another, you can bank 8 tokens total.
Earning tokens with The Boost:
You can earn double tokens if you take advantage of The Boost! Only one player can have The Boost at a time. When a player has The Boost, anyone who writes to that player (including themselves if they’re writing a self-thread or quest/plot post) earns double tokens.
For example, if Edel has The Boost, anyone who writes to Edel will earn 2 tokens per 100 words; Edel will earn +10 tokens if she eats her writing frog, etc.
Here’s how The Boost moves between players:
- Every day, a coin is flipped. If the coin lands on tails, The Boost stays with the current player. If the coin lands on heads, The Boost moves to a new player.
- If the same player has had The Boost for 3 days in a row, the Boost will automatically be moved on to a new player.
- The next player to receive The Boost will be randomised from a pot. If a player already has The Boost or they have had The Boost within the last 2 moves, they will be removed from the pot temporarily.

Post Parties
For the duration of any post party, all tokens are doubled. This means if you write to the person with The Boost during a post party, you earn 4 tokens per 100 words.
Post parties can be organised and hosted by staff or they can be started and ended impromptu by players if there are 3+ players in #general writing simultaneously.
Prizes
You can trade for the following prizes at the end of the event.
+1 point: Cost: 1 token
+4$: Cost: 1 token
Any standard, 2,000$ power or trait: Cost: 20 tokens
Any pet worth 400-600$ from the Collectables page: Includes Bittles Cat, Mitch Cat, Sage Cat, Sassy Festive Snake, Waffle Cat, Littlest Ghost and Charlie Cat. Cost: 5 tokens
Level Boost (up to Lv6): This one-use item automatically gives your character enough points to put them up one level. Cost: 10 tokens
Born Lucky: Use on Haven to create a mysteriously "lucky" baby with both parents listed as Unknown. Cost: 20 tokens
Born With Mythical Familiar: Use when breeding to guarantee your baby will be born with a randomised mythical familiar. Cost: 30 tokens
Severe Disabilities Blocker: Blocks the chance of inheriting severe disabilities. These are severe or debilitating disabilities which can affect character life expectancy, e.g. cystic fibrosis or down syndrome. Cost: 3 tokens
Unnatural Pregnancy: Enables you to get a single character pregnant with an "unknown" parent, or enables you to breed two characters who wouldn't otherwise be able to conceive (e.g. same-sex couples). When using this item on a pair of characters, you can choose which character in the pair becomes pregnant. Cost: 5 tokens
Age Adjuster: Reset your character's age to any age you choose. Please note that speed-aging your character is completely free. Cost: 10 tokens
Repressible Wing Potion: Drink to give your character the ability to repress their wings at will. Cost: 10 tokens
Hippocampus (pet): A horse with a dolphin's tail instead of hind legs. Can be used as a mount. Cost: 10 tokens
Thunderbird (pet): A giant eagle which can create storms by flapping its wings. Can be used as a mount. Cost: 12 tokens
Confinement Paint: This magical paint can be applied to any item used to confine people or animals: rope, handcuffs, cages, a cell, etc. It has one use but the effects are permanent. An item painted with Confinement Paint will block all magical attempts to exit the confinement, e.g. you will be unable to teleport out. Cost: 20 tokens
Potion Master’s Kit: Everything you need to be able to create an unlimited supply of magic-resistant poisons, antidotes, love potions, luck potions, polyjuice potions and truth serums. Cost: 30 tokens
Shamanimal Familiar: Grants your character a familiar in the form of a shamanimal. Shamanimal familiars have no associated powers of their own. Cost: 40 tokens
Mythical Familiar: Grants your character a familiar in the form of a mythical animal. Mythical familiars have no associated powers of their own (so if you get a dragon familiar it can't breathe fire unless you buy it a Familiar Voucher, for example). Cost: 70 tokens
Pokemon Pet: Choose any pokemon as a pet for your character. Appearance features only; no associated powers. Cost: 25 tokens
Gene Splice Coupon: Apply to any existing or new character to give them a gene spliced heritage and makeover. One of the character’s parents will remain a fairy but the other will be a randomised alternate species, with your character inheriting interesting features as a result. Cost: 35 tokens
3-Month Claim Boost: while this reward is active, you earn double points (+20 instead of +10 per character) and double doubloons (100$ instead of 50$ per 5 posts) for your monthly claims for a period of 3 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 20 tokens.
Unlock Gift Shop: while this reward is active, you can purchase gift shop items (gift cards and gift boxes) for yourself for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 15 tokens.
Power/Trait Discount: get a 20% discount on all powers and traits for a period of 2 months. You can choose to activate this reward whenever you want. Cost: 20 tokens.
