Museum Opening and Veterans Day 26th June
IP: 5.81.151.20

Good morning all.

I am very happy to write this email to everyone. We have just been through 14 months of being closed and undergoing a very difficult time in ensuring the continued security and maintenance of the museum. I am very grateful to our staff and volunteers for their continued commitment through these difficult times.

This email is to confirm the opening arrangements.

The museum will reopen on the 26th at 1000. However , this will not include the café. The café will open on the 30th.

The opening will be marked by a short concert in the Saturday afternoon between 1520 and 1550 after which the drums will be marched on and we will have a drumhead service to mark the events of the COVID period. We are not encouraging large crowds and Gallipoli Gardens will be closed to the General public. We will be recording the event and placing it on line. All staff and trustees are welcome to come into the gardens provided COVID rules are observed.

The staff will return to the museum as follows:

• Permanent museum staff: will return on Monday 21st June and work in the offices as usual. All staff will be removed from furlough as at 21st to allow staff to return to normal duties from that date. The variations are:
o Café Staff: As required by the Ops Manager prior to opening.
o Shop Staff: As required prior to opening.
o Volunteers: - as required by the department heads.
o Archive as of Wednesday 23rd.
• TiC in accordance with BMBC direction
Measures are being put in place by Gemma to ensure proper COVID control that will include single file instruction, sanitisation, COVID reporting slips etc. All staff and visitors are to wear masks whilst moving around the museum which included the training companies using the Minden and Gallipoli rooms.

As we are all aware we said goodbye to Helena during COVID. Gemma has accepted the role of Operations Manager and Corporate Manager and she is responsible for all of the operational and administrative management of the museum, with the exception of line management of the staff which for the time being shall remain with me until a trustee is appointed with this role. Direction is to be take from her with regard to all management advice regarding the running and coordination of operations in the museum and queries should be addressed through her.

Good luck and thank you.

Best wishes

Brian
