She steps gracefully through the frothy surf, her silvery mane clings to her wet dark skin. She pauses momentarily on the sandy shores, her heart thunders wildly against her ribs as she nervously looks about. Could he still linger within the shadows? Waiting to breathe his hot breath against her nape once more? She steps cautiously onto the sands but hesitates only momentarily before she pushes herself deep within the trees. She passes quietly beneath their brilliantly colored leaves - oranges, crimsons, and deep purples - vibrant colors not seen in the Desert.

Cain had been kind. He had offered her solace from Hades but now his scent no longer floated on the sultry winds nor did his voice thunder against the desert sands. But now something beckoned her back to the Crossing, it was a calling that whispered to her soul.

She hides within the shadows of the forest, her brilliant blue eyes scan the clearing. Not a soul wanders. Perfect.

A breath is held on her lips as she lets herself wander through the memories of the past few months. Hades. Cain. The Desert. Each one had left its impression on her soul. Most of all, her encounter with Hades. Her mother had warned her that he would come for her... She had whispered her warning - her eyes rimmed with fear. But her mother had never counted on the fact that Melinoë would grow strong and defiant.

She steps from the shadows and into the brilliant rays of the afternoon sun, it warms her painted back and pulls a smile onto her lips. She has always enjoyed the sunshine. She closes her eyes and hides her brilliant eyes beneath a veil of eyelashes.

"Zeus smiles down on me," she whispers.
