His family was never far from his thoughts, whether it was the immediate family who still lived with him here in the Desert, or the ones who had decided to go off and make their own fate elsewhere. His children, especially, never left his mind for long. Each held a special place in his heart that would never be replaced. He especially grieved for the ones he didn't get enough time with. The stallion was still trying to create a strong bond with his son, Ahimsa, from Vihaan. It wasn't that the colt turned him away, but they just didn't know enough about each other.

The other was a scent that soon found his nostrils and Cain couldn't help but perk up in hope as he turned to gallop across the dunes. Paisley. At first, he might have thought it was Primrose, since their scents were similar, but as he got over the dunes and saw the draft built mare at the oasis, he knew for sure it was his long lost daughter and he let out a breath of relief as his heart leapt in his chest. He hadn't seen her since she came to him for escort to another herd, the Thicket. At the time, she wanted to get to know the stallion there and he was beyond eager when she asked him to go with her. Of course, when the stallion all but rejected her once she got there, it was all he could do not to tear the male a new one for daring to hurt Paisley's feelings. He wasn't good enough for her anyway, not that anyone ever would be.

Seeing her back in the Desert made him smile as the stallion slowed down to a walk and tossed his head with a welcoming nicker. His eyes softened like those only a father could make as he approached and he didn't hesitate to step forward to embrace her once he got to her. "Paisley, my sweetheart. How have you been?"
