Ed: For Marines, the term BAM had an entirely different context. And when stationed at FMFPac HQ at Camp H.M. Smith, I incurred severe displeasure and verbal chastisement from a female Marine captain who overheard me mutter ComBAM, in regard to then-COL Julia Hamblet, Director of the WMs. I made a groveling apology.
