a nightmare that became a reality

Ruger

Ruger does not have long before the shadows separate, and a dark mare seems to manifest from them. He isn’t sure what to expect; not having been outside of one territory in so long, he nearly feels rusty in his greetings. Does he say something first? Being diplomatic had never been Ruger’s strong suit and without practice, he feels at a complete loss until she greets him. Her voice is calm, her approach friendly enough to a stranger as she offers her nose in greeting. Ruger extends his own, exchanging breaths before he pulls back into his own space.

“My name is Ruger, I have come from the Prairie.” he says. The painted stallion doubts she knows his name. Despite the lineage he carried, the years spent in the lagoon and even more years spent as Shamwari’s second; Ruger had never truly spread his name among the islands as others had done. “I’m not very good at being diplomatic, or using sweet words, so I will just give it bluntly on why I am here.” the stallion says, his lupine gaze never leaving the mare’s face. It is the best route he decides, knowing if she was offended now, then his idea would never work anyways.

“I have lived under Shamwari’s rule for a very long time, and without him, the Prairie no longer feels like home.” Ruger explained. He had never been very good at sharing things. It was even hard with Evanescence, despite how he had given himself to her whole heartedly. Ruger blamed it on his father, but he couldn’t let The Wolf enter his mind now. “I would like to have a new home for my family. A fresh start.” he said. “I’m not looking to take over. Only to offer my strength against your enemies as a second in exchange for a home.”

Blunt, honest; Ruger feels as if he has laid out everything she needs to know on why he stood upon her beach. Maybe a bit of whiplash, since she had only just approached him. But if the position was already filled, or if she did not want anyone to take the rank, then she could say so and not waste either ones time.
