The giant stallion did not seem so large as he lay sprawled out upon his side; his tan colors mixing in well with the sand. The warmth of the sun felt good on his skin, and he basked in its embrace with his eyes contently closed. The scent of his small family surrounded him, and no signs of danger lingered nearby. It was good to be here, even if he could feel the hostile gazes from the shadows of the jungle, knowing they counted the days until he was gone. Tyr knew he would not be here forever, but he couldn’t help but smile smugly to himself, knowing they could not run him off for the debt owed to him.
It is only the vaguely familiar scent of a mare that makes the General stir from his slumber. Head rising, he rolls to lay upright so that he can look out towards the lapping waves and what they have allowed to escape their grasp. There, across the expanse of sand that rests between them, a young mare emerges. At first, Tyr does not recognize her. But then memory causes him to reflect upon a night he had wandered through the Meadows, and the warm embrace he had sought from a innocent stranger.
Tyr turns his head then, peering over towards Kiraz and Kvothe. For whatever reason, he didn’t want them knowing what he had done. As a Lagoon General, and of his past, the stallion had done so much worse. In truth, he had done the same to Kvothe, only he had fallen into as much of the ploy as he had been playing upon her. A victim of his own plot. With a huff of agitation, and of something else, the stallion stands from the sand and shakes off the golden grains from his flesh.
Striding out across the beach, the spotted man lets out a deep baritone nicker in greeting to the pale mare.
