~ never ever mistake her silence for weakness,

How could I forget? His words breathed over her and she could feel the sorrow begin to melt away from her soul. He had remembered her, just as she had remembered him. As he peers into her dark gaze, she swallows nervously but silently wills herself to look into his eyes. There is a warmth that swallows her and briefly she can feel the world around them slow. The roar of the falls grows quiet, her heart slows and a breath is caught on her ashen lips. For a moment it is just these two souls in a midnight pool.

She closes her eyes as a sigh escapes into the still air around them. "I..." she whispers nervously "I am so happy that you remembered."

She would of felt so foolish if he had decided to stay away, if he had decided that she was not worth returning for. And as the realization sinks in that he had returned for her, she can feel her heart begin to swell inside of her chest. She drops her dark gaze to the pool's reflection at her breast and finds a stranger peering back at her. She silently admires the new strength that reflects back at her. A smile tugs at her ashen lips, she is learning to trust and to put her faith in another soul.

She brings her attention back to Romulus and presses her lips against his muzzle, drawing him from a daze. His eyes flutter open and met her gaze once more. A great many secrets, he confirms with a nod.

"Oh? And what is it that I must do, so that you tell me just one?" she asks with a gentle tilt of her chiseled head, a smile tracing across her lips.

She can not help but notice the excitement that vibrates his smoky skin and the pride that warms his dark eyes. She can feel that he has something exciting to share, and just as she is about to ask him to tell her. His mouth opens and his words spill from his lips.

“Okay, I cave... There’s a place for us to the South...” he excitedly tells her. Her eyes widen in surprise briefly and then her smile broadens. Is that what he had done in his absence? He pulls back to look at her, his eyes search her own.

"Romulus," she breathes "I would follow you anywhere and it gladdens my heart to know that is in the south," she giggles lightheartedly. She had heard of the northern islands - ones of ice and snow.

Her heart and soul belonged in the south... with him.
