You’re not Salinger. Get over it.

There are a lot of dark marks on the Lagoon’s past, but Frey knows not. As of yet, the dragon in his head is resting comfortably in the soft wrappings of childhood. Things would get worse in the coming years. No, for now he was a polite child, a kind child. Frey has a warm heart. The warmth hadn’t gone out. Only time would tell what the fates had in store for the colt. For now, he is charming.

The glance that pings between them is of interest to Frey. This is the first time that he really… he really gets it. The first time he really understands-- the bachelors are a force that many on the islands wouldn’t quite understand. In honesty, Frey didn’t even have much experience speaking to women. Pretty much it was his own mother, and that was all. Maybe it was harming him a bit socially, but at least around men, Frey was doing well.

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to stay, I just don’t want you to get caught in the storm.” Frey took a step in the direction of his trail back, gesturing to follow him. Zevulun voiced his reservations, and he was curious but… understanding. He had no way of knowing what had happened before him. Frey has control over only himself. A soft smile comes to his face, the compliment coming as a comfort. They’d just arrived, but they knew of the Lagoon. Just arrived… just returned?

Though not close to his own father, he could hope. Oh gods he could hope. Maybe things would get better. “I was born there, so it’s all I know, but I think it’s pretty nice.” Frey smiles softly, and he’s easygoing. “You said you’ve just arrived, but you know of the Lagoon… have you been here before?” Frey’s head quirked to the side. There’s a gentle sense of wonder shining in his eyes. The idea that there was somewhere beyond the Islands was enchanting, and though he was trying to be polite, he was incredibly curious. “Would you tell me of the world beyond?” Frey has no way of knowing if he’s striking a nerve or not, but there’s no caging childlike wonder. Not yet.
