Her eyes on the man’s face are… studying. Yes, studying as she would. Doing her best to assess him as she would, careful. Always careful. A careful distance is what would keep Eden safe, letting someone else in and being vulnerable? No. No, that was not something she’d really be comfortable with.
Eden sets her jaw as he speaks, watching the shrug and the… rhetorical question? She had an answer, but she wouldn’t give it. No. Not right now, at least. An argument wasn’t something she’d strike now, but a bit of annoyance sends her ears flickering. I can’t imagine it isn’t lonely here, well… shit he’s not wrong. Still, Eden straightens her posture. “Better lonely than caged.” That’s all she has on the subject, but his words… they make her think. They make her think about things that she’s pushed off for too long, and that hurts more than a little bit. Eden looks away for just a moment, maybe in an effort to steady herself.
There is a softness in his gaze as it returns to him. His kingdom. Bane had mentioned something about the shifting political state of the Islands themselves, how each determined their own government. Eden was in the presence of a king, and she’s quiet as she thinks about her situation. The Cove. She nods softly, once, noting how much warmer he’s gotten on speaking of his homeland.
His smirk brings just a slight glimmer to her eye, maybe even in spite of herself. “That’s probably a good rule to have, yeah.” Eden has a small, wry smile playing on her lips. “What would you call a good business investment?” He was a king, there had to be some wisdom there. She’s just grateful that the conversation has turned, become a bit more light. The girl would be able to push the gnawing loneliness down, at least for a bit longer.
