where innocences burn in flames. -

I'm frozen to the bones, I am...

A pale sliver of moon hides its face behind wisps of curling clouds and its haunting light illuminates the craggy mountain peaks. It beckons the Inlet King from his slumber - his glacial blue eyes flutter open and he peers out into the darkness. His breath plumes about his bald face, swirling and twisting into the frigid late winter night. Soon, winter's grasp would loosen and bring forth life once more. The world would thaw, revealing the purple and yellow flowers, the nutritious grasses, and turn the quiet frozen creeks into roaring, torrential muddy waters.

He pushes himself from his Queen's slumbering side and across the thin layers of snow and ice. For a split second, his body protests leaving the warmth of his bed, yet he pushes himself further and further from its comfort.

Silently he moves across the Inlet, beneath the watchful eye of the moon, and toward the border that separates the Bay from his home. It had been some time since he had seen the fierce warrior Queen, and now he understands why he had awoken from his slumber. She had been fierce and left quite the impression within his mind and upon his soul.

Valka.

He does not slow his approach until he is safely within the dense pine forest that stands at the border between the two lands. He settles himself beneath the broad boughs of the evergreens - her scent lingers along the border - a good sign that she still remains Queen of the Bay.

They had some business to attend to, but most importantly, he felt the need to check in on the Queen. He parts his lips and his bellow fills the still midnight air. The steam rolls around his fuzzy face and icicles clinging to his eyelashes and whiskers. As his bellow rises and then fades, his ears rotate atop his crown, and his weight shifts from hoof to hoof. It has been some time since he has spoken to her. Would she welcome his company? Or would she turn him away? Only the three spinners could foretell what is about to happen between them.

He also knows that she will not leave him waiting long - the ever-vigilant Queen of the Bay - so soon he would have his answer.
