legends never die

Bane’s thoughts are loud as she moves to the Meadow. It was strange, spring having come. Was it coming on too quickly? Was everything coming on too quickly? Summer would be here soon. Summer would bring their election season, and with it, a new set of leaders for the Peak. As always, their numbers came and went. Came and went as the tides did. Bane had it in her mind that she wasn’t going to leave, not ever again. Home for good.

Jaw set as she moved down from her mountain. Bane has become softer as she’s aged. More gentle. Maybe the mare has even learned to think before she spoke… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Bane is still a bit reckless, a bit wild. More than a bit. Now she simply does a better job controlling it, harnessing the chaos that lived inside her chest. Honestly? She’s feeling pretty good.

A floating trot brings her across the Meadow, enjoying the cool spring breeze. Flowers had sprung up as well, dandelions especially. They were still bright and yellow, living their best lives. Bane was pleased with them, as well as the chickweed and red clover. In the winter they’d all slimmed down, such is life when there’s less food. Now would be the time to eat, and to come back to life in the best way.

Bane slowed to a walk, and then to a halt. She was in the midst of the violets and the dandelions, and of course, the clovers. With a soft smile, the champagne mare lowered her head to pick up one of the brilliant yellow flowers, and the leaves attached as well. Life would only get easier until fall, and she’s grateful for that. As Bane lifted her head once more, she catches something in the corner of her eye-- someone. It would have been unusual to be alone in the Meadow, after all.

A grey mare, curled up in the grass. Bane takes a spare few steps forward, head canting to the side. Was she awake? Was something wrong? Her brow furrowed, calling out softly to the stranger. “Are you alright?” Well, all she could do was ask, right?
