Ed: I had just come off a 2-year Marine Reserve enlistment, and the M-1 was no stranger to me. When I went to Quantico after graduation, I fired expert rifle and pistol all 6 years, got my badge with a bar. But my old 5th Infantry Battalion did march off to Korea, I had just returned from Youngster cruise, waved them sayonara.
