if only i could burn this town

Drogon
To his surprise, the taciturn little mare remains silent in the wake of his outburst. It wasn't that he expected her to agree or disagree, but he'd expected some sort of commentary considering he'd just turned her down. On the surface, it would appear to be a generous offer, but in the grand scheme of things, it was not one that could realistically take. Regardless of whether either of them liked it, he was trapped here for the foreseeable future.

A beat of silence followed his questions but she eventually answered, and his gaze left her to follow in the direction she'd indicated. All of it looked blank and largely featureless to him, but he had no choice but to believe her. It wasn't as if he could really argue. This land was foreign to him, and bore no resemblance to the thick jungle he'd spent most of his time in. Even the Peak had at least had mountains.

As the mare answered his questions, Drogon allowed his face to wrinkle in disgust without bothering to hide it. Not only would he need to scrape for every spare bit of food, but it sounded like his only option for survival in this frozen tundra would be found cuddled up against the likes of the pony mare and her friends. While it could certainly be beneficial from the standpoint of achieving his goals, he didn't particularly relish the thought of being reliant on anyone for his own survival. From deeper within his mind, the voice grumbled again and malcontent smoke poisoned his thoughts. He couldn't for the life of him understand why anyone would choose a land in which the mere act of drinking water could kill you, and as the silence stretched interminably between them, he finally opted to break it with the same question.

"Why here?" He didn't bother to conceal the way his muzzle scrunched up in dislike as he gestured broadly at the land around them. "You had Paradise," he elaborates as he turns back to her, his dark eyes hard, opting not to specify whether he meant before or after her little display of independence. "And you traded in a life of luxury for... this? Even the land wants to kill you here."

Shaking his head in disbelief, he stepped forward towards her and slightly to the side. "Any chance we could walk and talk? I feel like I'm going to be an icicle in a few minutes."
