Watcher in the woods;

Golden eyes gleam in the dark shadows of the jungle as the painted stallion watches the scene transpire before him. Dark ears press backwards amid the cream and ivory tresses of his mane as the sound of Annubis’ voice breaks over the squawking of birds and parrots alike. The silver buckskin stallion had a way of grinding everyone’s nerves except for the pretty gray and white mare that showed up at his heels one day. What she saw in his brother, Loupgaru wondered if he would ever know. For the most part, he did his duty as mother and father expected, running patrols along the borders of the ridge and the shore and occasionally allowing Alpha to tag along when he found the need to spar and practice battle techniques. Though younger, Alpha had a way about him that was perhaps far more feral than any other stallion he had ever encountered, the bright red colt proved over and over to be good practice. However he never forgot her.

Her presence in Paradise had not gone unnoticed by him. He had watched silently as she drew herself from the shallow shores and pranced with the effortless grace of mother straight into the heart of Paradise. From the shadows he followed, his large hooves carefully placed on the dense undergrowth so that like the jungle cats that left the mark across his neck, he moved with silence. Medusa. He had been only a foal when she left for Tinuvel to fulfill some oath or other that tied the islands together in alliance. He had been too young then to understand the logistics of it all. All he knew for sure was that his sister was gone and Rougaru was to blame.

Even the years that had separated them did not lessen the bond that tied them together. From the moment his eyes found her, he knew her to be the doppelganger of his mother from the bright blue and brown of her eyes to the proud carriage of her head. She was Monster made over. Delight danced in his fierce eyes as he prowled closer, fluted ears tilt backwards as viciously his lips peel back into a fierce snarl. With slow, calculated steps he emerges from the undergrowth, golden gaze turned towards Annubis. ”Overstepping your boundaries again aren't you, brother?...” he murmurs, his deep baritones as meaningful as the malicious smile that tugged the corners of his ashen lips upward. He had been there when Rougaru snapped at Annubis. He remembered glaring down on his half brother then as the chocolate stallion roared over him and no doubt his words would ring with the same familiarity to the silver stallion.

With a dismissive snort, he steps forward, golden eyes traveling over the slender form of his sister and pausing on the smoky blue filly at her heels. This time, the smile that lights his face is genuine as he cocks his broad head to the side, a teasing tone lingering on his words. ”You filled out some since the last time I saw you. Guess Tinuvel didn’t starve you huh?” he murmurs, pausing a moment to flick his tattered tail, he takes a curious step forward, closing the distance between them and shouldering past Loupgaru with no further thought. ”So this is my niece huh?” he asks. ”She have a name?” he asks with a grin, dropping his head to cast his golden eyes around Medusa’s brown splashed side.
