QUESTION: How do you and your family access news to keep you informed on the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic? Is it through? Television or newspaper?
ONE ANSWER:No greater stories are as important as two catching a great deal of media attention…. the spreading and stopping of a fatal worldwide pandemic and the assault on western democracy by an autocratic political movement.
Newspaper as a medium is disappearing, or at least diminishing. It was the favored method to inform people before mass media technology.
Now television, while still fully penetrated into society, also shares the first place with the internet which is often television on a different receiver.
We are a visual and verbally communicating species. Don’t worry about the mechanism of the medium…just know that it takes humans to practice journalism no matter how you get it. Journalism is a CRAFT. Sometimes it’s practiced well and sometimes not.
What survives from journalism depends on the audience’s ability to think critically and assess the quality of the information product. With luck, the Fox’s will diminish for failure to perform and inform well. Its nothing more than a British tabloid founded by a hack tabloid publisher but commited to television delivery.
Neither Rupert Murdoch nor the performers and propagandists he’s hired are people of good intent.
