Re(2): Whats news opinion?

Maybe I haven't said it here, but I've said it in more well read sites. I don't believe voters should be identified by the name of the party they tend to vote for.

In my mind, we're all independent voters, some smart, some not so smart.

Democrats and Republicans are POLITICIANS, elected officials, candidates members of the party machinery, their volunteers and their donors.

Mostly, I'd identify myself politically as an anti-corporatist, anti-Republican progressive. Not much of that Republican entity do I support in anycase, but when it comes to what the Dems do, I support much more of theirs and vote for the candidates I think best helps progress with good intent.

here's what I expect for my vote from a political party:

--First, a more solid separation between church and state as the founders envisioned.

--More supervision by the Justice Dept of local justice systems to prevent racketeering within local governments.

--More aggressive action to end descrimination in the workplace, in banking and other rights that have kept some groups at a disadvantage.

--Term limits on Congress Senate and House not to exceed 12 years; and more openness on campaign donations and individual amount limits. I do not believe Congress should be a career occupation.

-- create better schools at the state level, equipping them beyond just academics but also life skills so they hit the ground understanding relationships, child rearing, ethics, critical thinking, career planning, ability to understand the elements of facts vs opinions, propaganda, citizenship;

--about 2 years of after school career training or college; and if that's linked to at least a year of public serice so the Career training is more like the GI Bill, fine;

--funds for adult retraining and not just short term jobless benefits for people searching for jobs that no longer exist;

--more access to AFFORDABLE health care; an unbloated, efficient including reorganizign the payment system to end insurance company profiteering so workers pay in when they work and get Medicare-like health care, with some copays;

-- consumer protection regulations which aren't draconian against business being successful but also arent written by the business they are to regulate;

-- certainly laws that protect democracy including ones forcing states to make voting by individuals EASIER, not HARDER.

--As an anti-corporatist I define that in such a way as to regulate them from becoming profiteering monopolies, and they should not enjoy the free speech rights of the citizenry.

Government set the up corporations to create an entity to raise capital to start businesses and protect the investors personally from risk beyond what they invested. Similarly, government should protect the citizenry from the entity becoming a superhuman because of its potentially vast invested resources. They have no business contributing to campaigns or having 1st amendment rights and protections.

I dont'equate democrats with blabbing, for what I've seen on Fox, Republican interests have no problem blabbing truth or propaganda.

I'd also liek to see officeholders and government workers to be personally accountable for their official actions. That seems to be a pretty liberal idea.

If you read it, good for you; if you already know these ideas from elsewhere, so much the better. Everyone should, especially people in the media--the last bastion of adult education in America.
