“You don’t have to leave you know!” Vana calls out to her sister from the shore. Windfola was already in the water beginning her swim away from the Forest. ”Your family is here now! Just because your mother left you doesn’t mean you should leave me!” Vana tries to plead with her sister to come back. She has been unable to keep Windfola from her ideas of adventure. Her sister had wanted to return to the Badlands since they left, but the dangers were unknown. Who knows who that Rafe character was. He might be a cruel stallion! ”Please!” Vána screams louder, but her sister kept getting further and further away. All Windfola would give the girl was a shake of her head. Tears begin to mark the girl’s cheeks because she knows this was goodbye.

Windfola was a restless soul just like her mother had been. Course the girls could never say they knew the mare, but Roheryn had told them each stories about their birth mothers. Desdemona never stayed home for long. She was always traveling, often times outside of the isles, but she always did return to him. Roheryn could no longer wait for her when he gave up the Badlands to their eldest brother Ajnur. She had never returned for their daughter and so he said he could never expect to see her again. She must have been hating herself for leaving Windfola behind. Her own mother had disappeared the same night Desdemona had. Father Roheryn says this was unlike Thea. He always spoke of Thea with love. He says she was the sweetest, gentlest soul who would have never left her child behind without purpose.

Roheryn had said she would have loved her mother dearly if she knew her. He also assumed something bad had happened to her. He had doubts they would ever meet because there was no way Thea would leave her behind willingly. He even thought Desdemona might have been there defending Thea and that is why both daughters were found together on the shore. No one could really say what happened to their mother’s, but Vána felt very connected to Windfola because of it. Especially now after Nova, Windfola’s nurse mother, had perished birthing Elowyn. It was terrible how broken their family was now, scattered across the islands, but Vana had been happy to at least have Windfola (of course Adnois too, but they haven't spoken lately). Now she was gone. The gentle touch of Felaróf startles her at first, but once she realizes it was her older brother she smiles sorrowfully. ”She will be alright Vána and you will see her again.”

Vána leans against him as they watch the figure of Windfola disappear among the waves.
