The tenderhearted mare didn’t really know which end was up anymore. She didn’t know what to think, either. The Bay… he’d brought her here. He was… nice. Nice enough. Maybe there was a bit of a savior complex in there, and that was enough to make her nervous. (Okay, most things made her nervous these days, but she wasn’t about to admit that aloud.) Bacardi wasn’t bad, but there was no way for Vera to know how to feel. When all was said and done, she felt just as alone in the Bay as she had in the Commons, and as she had when she left home.

Home. It was a far away concept now. This place was odd-- still cold, despite the summer rolling on in the rest of the world. The chill never really left at night. The cold that settled into her bones was nearly always present, and she felt a bit like a ghost here. It was okay. Vera would, as always, be okay. Still, there’s a sad and sorta far away look in her eye as she stands on a soft rise. From here, she could see the bay that lent its name to this place. At least that was a sight to behold.

The sun was setting, and it would be chilly soon. Still, she couldn’t pull her gaze from the brilliance on display before her. For now, Vera would stay out. Nights were so much later in the summer, and she found herself enjoying herself. She’d hold onto that enjoyment for as long as it took, especially before the lonesomeness kicked in.
