we could be strangers in the night

YOUR LOVE IS ALWAYS DANGEROUS
and now i'm lost in us

Zevulun could be (and was) called many things in his spirited youth on the islands, but the word “wise” was not among them. What transgressed on the Mainlands and his time away had taught him, and though it took a while, he eventually listened. Would it have been the same if he never left Tinuvel? If he, Mariael and Maziel had stayed, what would their role have been in the growing war? Would that have changed him? Who would he have become?

Too many questions, not enough answers.

Zevulun smiled gratefully at Persephone. “I appreciate that.” He did, tremendously. It was no easy thing for a monarch to open their home, even to old friends, or to offer to help them when they arrived at their borders years upon years after seeing one another. Time changed everyone, but it was nice to see there were some things that stayed the same. Zevulun would be forever grateful for Persephone and was happy his curiosity to see Freya had led him to her.

“I do plan to stay on the isles, though I’m not sure where yet.” He confessed. “I don’t know that we’ll return to Tinuvel, it doesn’t feel quite right to be there without Mariael.” Despite his emotions when it came to his birth island and the sister he felt he’d lost, Zevulun managed to keep his tone light and conversational. “But, once we find somewhere I’ll be sure to let you know or, perhaps we’ll wind up right back here.” He smiled pleasantly, knowing neither he nor his sons would mind living in the Forest beneath Persephone’s rule. “I’m considering the idea of ruling my own herd, but being raised to support Mariael’s reign I find the idea of taking on a territories responsibilities alone a bit daunting.” Of course, he had his sons support alongside him and wouldn’t be totally alone. But to be the leader? The role his sister had stood?

Well, only time would tell. Zevulun intended to follow whatever whim came to him on his return to the islands.

“One of my sons left for the Prairie before coming here, I better go fetch him before the sun falls much further.” They still had hours of daylight left, but since he needed to see what Raziel was after in the Prairie and then find Ramiel and the mare he’d gone with, he figured now was as good a time as any to part. This certainly wouldn’t be the last he and Persephone saw of one another, anyways.

“Thank you again for such a warm welcome.” He offered her a smile. “We’ll see each other again.” Zevulun affirmed, giving a nod of his head before stretching his muzzle to share a goodbye breath and then leaving, walking slow beneath the cool shadows of the Forest canopy, feeling lighter than he had in weeks.

ooc: figured this was a good spot to wrap-up this thread now that we’ve moved on with Zev becoming Persy’s next door neighbor! 🥰 If you wanted to post a wrap-up with her you could or we can just end it here, totally your call! 💗
