you can sleep on my side of the bed Mjölnir

Halo was tired. Things had been lonesome. Being a woman on her own, especially in this season, was dangerous. The world was wide. It was starting to get scary, it was starting to get to be… too much. More and more, Halo felt the need to look over her shoulder. Rarely comfortable these days. Honestly, the girl was adrift. Hard to be tied down to anything, after all.

She’d woken up that morning alone, and honestly, her feelings were hurt. Mjölnir had slipped away. He’d slipped away, leaving her in the Hills. Loneliness had crept back in soon after, and Halo felt an ache in the space between her ribs. Honestly, she was scared of Marceline. She hadn’t hung about in the Hills, instead drifting away. Halo found herself alone again.

Autumn was in full force. The trees in the Falls had started changing, alight with reds and oranges-- it really was beautiful. A chill hung in the air. She didn’t know how to process that. Winter would be here soon, and she was still on her own. Lonesome. A bit of her light had dulled, some of her sparkle and shine dying down. There had been so much wonder in her when she washed up on the Islands. It had started to dull now. Sunset would come on soon, and Halo had settled in to watch it from a small copse of trees on the edge of the Falls.
