The space between them was thick with a tangible sort of tension. Bane was nervous. Honestly, the mare didn’t know what she was going with this conversation. Why had she decided to come to the Inlet? The codebreaker didn’t know how to handle this. Words were failing her, especially as the painted stallion’s eyes went wide. Her pulse picked up, heart squeezing in her chest.

Don’t go-- Bane was not one to follow orders from anyone, she froze. Soft green eyes shift to meet his. Ears rotating to pitch forward, the champagne mare waited to hear what he had to say. Seeress he called her. The man was a breath away, and Bane could have reached out to touch him. Could have. She didn’t-- did she want to? Her head was still spinning. Yes… but she wouldn’t.

He cast to the cluster of pines, and Bane nodded once. She’d seen this place before, she’d been… here. It wasn’t far, and the mare seemed to recognize it easily. As the stallion parted from her side, Bane could feel a strange pull though her feet remained on the rocky shore. Coming? It’s enough to drive her forward, long steps drawing her to his side. “Who are you?” It was a soft question.

Bane was elegant as she moved beside him, stepping through the grey grasses. Quiet hung softly between them, but she was comfortable that way. The champagne mare felt no need to fill the space with needless words. There’s a familiarity to this place, though the champagne mare couldn’t recall being here. She’s been here.

Sunlight filtered through the trees as they crossed together. The codebreaker was caught between the awkwardness of her own arrival and the strange comfort and peace of this place. “I’ve seen this place in my dreams for as long as I can remember,” Bane’s words were quiet, a murmur. “Sometimes I would see a shadow in the distance, but only in the last season has that shadow come into view.” Her voice caught, here. A very, very slight quiver. “It’s always been you.”
