comfort me with apples, for i am sick of love

To his surprise, the response to his call was swift and punctual, but not from the mare that he had expected to see. It was not Evren that emerged from the darkened treeline but a roan mare with an unamused expression and shrewd gaze. Solomon shuffled his disappointment behind a neutral mask and inclined his head in greeting, but was careful to keep his place at the very edge of the shoreline. The last thing that he needed was the little roan mare to get the impression that he was coming to do her or her family any harm.

It took most of his willpower to stop his gaze from continuing to search the treeline instead of Persephone's face, but he managed to direct his attention back to her with some reluctance. It was not that he found her unworthy of his attention, just that his desire to see and meet his family was far stronger than his desire to meet another leader. And while he had no proof that she was the lead here, she carried herself as if she were, and if he had to judge merely from the calm confidence of her gaze, she was not new to the job either.

"Persephone, it's a pleasure," He answered, a wary smile rising onto his lips. "I'm Solomon, lead of the Cove and current King of Tinuvel."

Despite the listing of his titles, he does not seek to brag. In truth, if he had come merely on a social visit or if he had been able to greet Evren first, he would have likely left them off. However, with no Evren, and no child, the purpose of his visit would have to be reduced to the conveyance of a warning, and he doubted that it would carry any weight without the weight of his titles to back it up.

"I had hoped to see Evren… and our child." He admits, oblivious to the complicated nature of the situation. Regret infuses his words as he continues, and his dark-rimmed ears tip back apprehensively. His absence was inexcusable, and he knew it… but that didn't mean he was going to give up on attempting to make a connection with the foal if they were willing.

Swallowing hard, Solomon gathers himself again and raises his gaze back to Persephone's with determination. "I also wanted to impart a warning. I don't think the trouble will reach your shores, but I would not feel right leaving them unprepared."
