One thing that's fun is getting rid of the daily grind and just doing special projects; there's a lot of prestige in investigative work. I was a member of IRE long ago, and loved doing series work back when my station could afford it.
Not that there aren't plenty of targets that need fixing out there! The trouble with being a field reporter is having to feed the beast every day, and not having beats where you could develop great sources and have time without the daily expectation. Makes for better daily product too, I'd say.
I kinda liked getting bumped from a weeknight once in awhile,and have my story hold til high vis Sunday night so I could spend more time hunting and gathering for a longer piece. Makes Sunday night a better show, besides. Replies:
