legends never die

Bane was grateful that he hadn’t run her off, really. Tense relations between their factions were the name of the game, but she’d spent time thinking on Roisin’s words. On her thoughts. The child was right, after all. Still, those thoughts were too heavy for right now. The company should be enough to help ground her thoughts… hopefully. Grounded. Her head had been spinning for so long now. Focusing on more than their children would be good for both of them, though Bane had no way of knowing that. She was never meant to be a mother. In all of this, she was never meant to be a mother. Still, all she could do was push it from her mind.

It feels like so much happens in just a day, his words draw a rakish chuckle from Bane’s chest. It was true. Times were changing. “How have things been for you lot?” It was broad, and she’d let him keep things general. There was nothing in the champagne mare to pry, but maybe he’d appreciate her interest. Hell, maybe he wanted to talk about things. Anything to keep Bane’s mind from her own problems, she’d take.

That question could be taken in many different ways, and Bane nodded once. “That’s why I asked it,” she’s wry. She was trying to get a gage on the painted man where he stands beside her. The general. Bane’s emerald gaze flickered to the stallion’s face. “I’m the new codebreaker in the Peak, Bane.” She offers her name, realizing that she hadn’t until this point. Hell, maybe he already knows it. Word had a way of travelling in the Islands, after all.
