We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

Tavas had a hard time maintaining his gaze. She did her best not to look worried or uncomfortable, but the fear of his disproval or judgment weighed heavily on her the longer their conversation ensued. This was her own doing, she reminded herself now. She left. He should be mad, or at least dismissive. Despite this, the palomino mare could feel Solomon's eyes burning into her, all over, and she tried to hold her own. She did not squirm underneath his gaze, even if she couldn't bear to meet it.

Her heart beat quickly in her chest, the staccato pattern nearly deafening any other sound coming through her ears. So much so she nearly missed his brief comment about the Cove. Tavas bobbed her head stiffly, nonetheless. She did, however, catch his next words, and swallowed hard before attempting to respond to them. "A lot, indeed." She agreed, allowing her gold-flecked gaze to scan their surroundings before settling back on him. How much have you changed? She wished to ask, but couldn't muster the courage.

Two golden ears flicked forward at the mention of Lyrae, a sweet friend Tavas certainly missed. The corners of lips even turned up into a short-lived smile at the thought of her. But short lived it was, as she puzzled over how to respond to his offer. Luckily for her, he followed up with another question before she had time to say the wrong thing.

"Just a few days." She offered quickly, her blonde tail flicking nervously over her haunches. "I wanted to see you Solomon. Of course, I wanted to come see you. But there are some things in my life I need to figure out first."

There. She blurted it out. Her nostrils flared as she sucked in a deep breath, allowing it seep out slowly in the form of a heavy sigh. "After Warsaw died, my dam... She needed me." She tried to explain, her eyes finally locking on his. "My family was in shambles." It was during this time she became more acquainted with a side of her family Warsaw had forbidden her and her mother from seeing. And her quest to know more was part of the reason that drew her back here, after all, even if Tavas hadn't put those pieces together until right about now. "I'm still... processing parts of my family, and of my own life, that were kept from me. It's all very confusing." She realized she must sound a bit unhinged, but couldn't think of a way to salvage whatever perception he had of her in this moment. "Warsaw wasn't my father." She said next, her gaze searching his face for a reaction. "It was all a lie."

"I'm not sure I'm ready to face what I left behind on Tinuvel just yet."
