where innocences burn in flames. - [open]

I'm frozen to the bones, I am...

Winter's frigid chokehold, freezes the whole isle of Tinuvel within its grasp. Blankets of sparkling snow drift around the stoic dark pines, the mountain craggy tops are veiled within thick winter clouds, and the creeks remain frozen within their shores. The aging King, winds his way beneath the evergreen boughs, glacial blue eyes glue to the distant shapes of the herd, and he constantly traces the borders of the Inlet. Ever vigilant.

The threat of war crackles in the frigid air. He hears the whispers across the isles, the whispers about Rougaru and Nyimara... and he knows that the peace, will not last long. It is the tense glances he receives from the mares, the tight lipped replies from his allies as they visit to inform him of what unfolds beyond his rocky shores.

The Inlet King steps from within the shadows and into the early morning sun. It's colors wash the world around him in soft pinks and tepid oranges. The brilliant snow sparkles beneath its delicate touch. He steps through the fetlock deep snow and closer to the still herd, most quietly slumber while the occasional foal stirs. Time had melted away from him once more - children who had just been born with knobby knees and uncertain legs - now grow into ever braver weanlings.

Glacial eyes shift from foal to foal, each of them, perfect in their own right. A smile tugs at the King's whiskered lips and his brilliant blue eyes brighten. The day would unfold before him and offer its gifts. Its first gift would be the moments he spent here - with his family.
