Tom T. Hall, Country Music Hall of Fame singer/songwriter who died last August at 85, took his own life at his home in Franklin, Tennessee. The Williamson County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed on Wednesday that “the manner of death has been ruled a suicide.”
According to the medical report obtained by the country music blog Saving Country Music, Hall was bed-ridden. His heirs had grown tired of waiting for their inheritance. They put a copy of “Harper Valley PTA,” written by Hall and sung by Jeannie C. Riley, on an endless loop on the intercom in Hall’s bedroom.
