Re(2): KVVL 97.1

Actually I started in small market radio where there were no consultants tricking listeners with theatrics, just honest, down home neighborly broadcasters that people get used to, generally more important than a rotation of spoonfed, repetitive songs.

Its still around, sans corporate edicts. Even the music's better because the playlist isn't overly researched for 100 pct mass appeal.

Ya want all music you like all time time, program your itunes and ya can't go wrong. And get IHeart that is free, has few commercials and enough choices to changeup every few weeks for fresh sounds til you want to change again.

Only the lucky few are talented enough to be left alone to actually entertain and not be bothered by the corporate suits. Fun to listen to, fun to work across the glass from. But everybody at every station does get into nitches, and it's good to step out for some fresh air too.

Honestly, there's nothing more insufferable than guys who think there's only one way to do it and they know what that is. I learned that every station staffs think they're the ones... right up until they go to work across the street and find that same attitude THERE!

Dunno why so much complaining tho except that the people who work at really good workplaces don't tend to leave them for that very reason. Show me high turnover in any industry, and I'll show ya a toilet bowl!
