Washago waterfowl

The deep freeze in Washago, with a low hitting �33� a couple of mornings ago, coincided with extra logs being put into the water control dam from Lake Couchiching into the Green River, slowing flow down to the point that the river was completely frozen over in areas that are normally open. At Centennial Park, the open water at the inflow was also down to a much smaller area. It became a very crowded home for more than 430 Goldeneyes, about 143 Trumpeter Swans, at least 140 Mallards and a few Canada Geese. It was dusk when I visited, or I'd have been more focused in trying to find other species, but that was all I could confirm visually.
