Re(1): Take The Day Off

No shit. I remember once doing a liveshot on the TodayShow from down in central Kansas once in front of a power plant.

It was colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra! Liveshots are just stupid theatrics. I watch a lot of ABC cuz the wife likes David. I can't stand them cuz they say "Tonight" every ten seconds and use present participle with infinitive so they don't ever have to use PAST tense.

On ABC, news has to always be happening right now at newstime, even if it happened earlier.

Plane 'crashing' instead of plane 'crashed.' Its horrible English because it clouds the important timeframe, "WHEN" of every event.

Drives me nuts and its catching on in field reporting even on the other networks because ABC News' ratings have taken a big jump. (Or in ABC Newsspeak, "ABC's ratings taking a big jump.") They just drop the "TO BE" form of the participle so they never refer to anytyng PAST tense.

Thats deceptive rock and roll news style and I hope the news consultant who wrote the memo to the network staff gets hit by a truck!. And that it backs up and keeps HITTING HIM (Present participle).
