The death of 47-yr-old former major league baseball player Jeremy Giambi has been ruled a suicide by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.
Giambi played parts of six seasons in the major leagues with the Royals, Athletics, Phillies, and Red Sox, including two playoff appearances with the Athletics.
His MONTHLY MLB salary was as much as $4 million, and his estimated net worth at the time of death was $35 million. I admit I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can’t understand why a guy worth $35 million would commit suicide. I think I could have survived whatever was bothering me, if I had that kind of moolah.
