a body without a soul;

Her bones ache and her muscles twinge in protest with every movement she makes as they amble closer to Romulus' family. Viveka can feel the sinking anxiety building in her chest as the sky's muted tones begin to grey and get darker. The shadows cast foreboding figures across the grasses and Viveka finds herself sidling closer to Romulus. "I'm sorry," she whispers as her hip bumps his gently. Eigyr trailed close to her hip, her legs moving at twice the pace of Viveka's full stride. She slows, a low coaxing nicker escaping from her parted lips.

The sun finally relents to night as the moon rises in the distance. The air cools, but only slightly from the day's heat and Viveka's eyes watch as the precious lightning bugs begin to dance across the long grass. She'd never seen anything like it. Her eyes lit up as she watched each of them trail lazily in various directions. "I've never seen anything like this before." He probably though her silly to be so fascinated by bugs. However, it appeared Eigyr was equally interested as the fresh red filly took bold steps towards a bug that immediately raced away.

Viveka is unaware of their proximity, simply relishing in the moment. As the silver mare turns her head back to Romulus, she studies his face as he echoes her sentiments of home. She mules over the words, understanding that he is perhaps right, maybe she should count what blessings she had left. For what if it was Rafe who'd found her in this meadow, and not Romulus. "I cannot thank you enough for not sending me away," she says, her voice tinged with sadness. She didn't want to be a burden, but she needed him to know that what he did meant something to her. She tentatively extends her muzzle to caress his neck, the brief connection of flesh like electricity through her body. She didn't know if she was experiencing the dwindling hormones of her pregnancy or if she was simply grateful that he'd cared and done what he wanted to do because he could and not out of obligation.

She pulls her nose away as quickly as it landed, a sheepish look painting her face. She averts her eyes to Eigyr, not sure what to make of what she was feeling in this moment. v i v e k a mare | silver black | swedish warmblood | 4 | moonless
