CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. By Isabel Oldman

USERS of TripAdvisor have awarded Bury Market the top spot on its list of the best attractions in the borough.

With close to 900 5-star reviews, visitors awarded the market an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5.

Despite continued coronavirus restrictions throughout 2021, Bury Market earned the Traveller’s Choice Award for that year, placing it alongside the top 10 per cent of attractions across the whole site.

One reviewer said: “I have travelled the world from Bangkok to Beijing to Capetown to India.

"I have seen hundreds of markets throughout the world but none as brilliant and welcoming as Bury Market “Get what you wish here!”

In February, Bury Market was crowned Britain’s Favourite Market for the second time by the National Association of British Market Authorities – NABMA.

Next on the list is Bury Transport Museum, with an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 and 150 "excellent" ratings.

One reviewer praised the excellent and knowledgeable volunteers and was surprised to find that everything on offer was free.

“My two-year-old loved it and enjoyed it that much we went round twice!

“Overall I would say we spent around two hours in there, though you could easily stay for longer."

Also on the list is the Fusilier Museum which is dedicated to telling the story of The Lancashire Fusiliers from 1699 to 1968.

The museum follows the work of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers throughout history until the present day.

Reviewers praised the museum’s volunteers and interesting exhibitions.

One visitor said: “The gardens are lovely, the tour is interesting (and emotional), the cafe is nice, and the shop is well stocked. The staff are really friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable”.

Another added: “Lovely little museum and memorial garden. Well worth a visit. Brought the history of how brave our soldiers were to life”.

Bury Country Park, Bury Parish Church and the iconic Peel Tower also feature on the list.
