CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. Talks at the Museum

Historically the museum has put on talks and we wanted to re-start that habit to seek to attract a broader audience. With that in mind, we will be holding our ‘First Annual Gallipoli Talk’ in the museum on Thursday 21 April. This is the Thursday before the Gallipoli weekend.

The Talk will be ‘Gallipoli – Heroic Endeavours, Strategic Failure’ and will be delivered by me.

I know that many of you will be unable to attend but please make your own networks aware of the event, where appropriate. We want it to be a success, are targeting 50+ ticket sales, and to be the launch pad for future talks. We will do a lessons learned review of this talk to help us going forward.

Tickets can be purchased online at First Annual Gallipoli Talk - Gallipoli:Heroic Endeavour, Strategic Failure Tickets, Thu 21 Apr 2022 at 15:00 | Eventbrite and mercenary as it is if you buy a ticket(s) even if you cannot attend the museum benefits. Bums on seats is, however, always preferred.

We hope to record the talk and subsequently put it online.

Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee

The Napoleon exhibition has now finished and it will be replaced by a physical and online exhibition celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The new exhibition will be built at the start of May and will recreate a room from 1952 supported by appropriate artefacts and images.

Online we will be seeking to present a series of images with descriptions reflecting Her Majesty’s service and connection with the military and Fusiliers where appropriate.

A request for photos will be in the next Fusilier Newsletter and I would ask that you again look through your own records for photos and stories of when you may have met HM or any of the senior royals. It would be great to run 100 days of images and stories, a new one each day, but that will be dependent upon what we receive.

The longer term exhibition programme

Work has started to put together a longer term exhibition programme covering the next couple of years. Our aspiration is for 2-3 physical exhibitions per year with every other one having a specific fusilier focus. This will allow us to also run exhibitions such as the Jubilee one, and previous Downton and Wedding Dress ones.

With that in mind, we will be putting together a 2023 exhibition to remember the 20th anniversary of TELIC 1 and the operations to cross the Iraqi border and capture and secure Basra. More detailed plans on this exhibition will be developed and shared in the next few months.

Developing our Online and Social Media presence

The museum has started to develop our online position and this will be reported back on at the next Trustees’ meeting. New YouTube content will be going up next week and our Twitter page now includes daily content reflecting regimental achievements.
