Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

The Marauder was angry, even an idiot could see that. Today, Frey was probably the idiot. He remains entirely placid as the painted stallion shouts, carries on. The twitching, the tone of his voice, the set of his ears– yeah, Rehoboam was pissed. The sooty stallion reached to scratch some mud from his foreleg, gaze finally drifting back as the all-but stranger speaks. So much for a band of brothers. Band of strangers, more like. Still, he’ll fix the man with a cool gaze. He’ll let him speak.

Two choices, okay, he was no less confused. It seemed, too, that Frey was being sized up for a fight? His slack posture shifts, and he stands evenly over all four feet. Okay, if he wanted to fight, sure. Frey was bigger, bulkier, stronger– let him. Sure, let him try to smack the sooty stallion around, it wouldn’t be the first or last time. Maybe a fight would do him good, get him out of the funk that had settled into his bones.

Baby sister, oh shit. The realization sends a flicker across Frey’s features… Bell’s older brother. Rehoboam’s venom isn’t misplaced, and the sooty stallion had probably crossed some sort of line along the way. Still, the Marauder’s words leave Frey’s ears pitching backwards in return. Somewhere safe and respectable. For all the things they’d tried to do, even their own Marauder still saw them as monsters? What the fuck?

“You sit in a position of power, and you still don’t think this is a respectable place?” Frey’s tone is metered, thoughtful. Though he’s a contrarian at heart, this is different. The same reason that Zevulun had been hesitant to approach the Lagoon. The same reason that, when he offered it as a place of shelter in the winters to passers-by, they balked. “This has been my home since I was born. It’s the safest place I know.” His words carried weight, spoken with a fire that was far different than the one Frey usually displayed. They are heavy on his tongue and fierce beyond belief.

“You view the Lagoon the same way the outsiders do.” It’s an observation, one that comes with weight. It rests in his chest, a stone. Frey shook his head, forelock falling messy across his eyes. “If you think that it’s unsafe or not respectable here, then it’s on us to change that.” His posture remains carefully neutral, but one thing is for certain– Frey was going to stand his ground.
