Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Frey, the large dark stallion introduced himself as, and said he was a Lagoon soldier. Briefly, he wondered if this was the young stallion his grandfather, uncle and sire had met when they had arrived at the islands. Quickly he shook off the thought. It’d been years since that day and the only reason Orphiel connected the two was because his knowledge of the Lagoon and his interaction with it had been so limited. As far as he could remember, that was the only firsthand account he’d ever heard about the Lagoon.

As Frey mentioned rules, Orphiel only listened and nodded, mulling them over in his head. He had never gone to the Commons before (that went along with him having never left Luthien) but he knew, like most locals did, it was the one place where newcomers to the islands could potentially be whisked away – even forcefully - to go live somewhere with whichever leader took away their freedom to choose. He did not realize the Lagoon would interject themselves and keep anyone from doing so, but he rather… liked that. An excuse to work off his excess energy in combat sounded appealing.

The idea of being somewhere with rules and a structure to follow and being so removed from what his life had been like in the Thicket may be just what he needed. As much as he yearned for the love and joy and life he had found, all of it was tainted now and it would be better to be as far removed from something like it as possible. Maybe then he could figure out how to get on with his life.

“Okay.” He said firmly and nodded. “There won’t be any issue,” he promised. “I can follow those rules.” He hesitated briefly (while Frey had not been rude, he had not been particularly warm, and Orphiel was beginning to fear he was a bother) then decided to go ahead and add, “Thank you, Frey. I uh, appreciate it.” He said, half of a grin on his dark lips (his heart was too weighed down for any more than that)

(ooc: if you want us to just close this thread out here we can, or if you want frey to get to know orphiel more we can continue it! I didn’t want you to feel like you had to keep the thread going if you were ready for frey to bow out)
