Although there is no exact evidence to prove that sport began in the past, we know that children have always included physical activity as part of their play. Prehistoric paintings of hunters show them pursuing prey with joy and abandon. The rich iconographic and literary evidence from ancient civilizations supports the idea that these games grew out of much older activities. As a result, there is no exact time when sport became a popular activity worldwide. In fact, it began in ancient China and spread throughout Asia, where it still exists today.
