Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

turn men into beasts

Tyr knew how the Islands viewed them. The monsters in the dark. Boogeymen told in night time stories to keep naughty foals close at night. It had been that way since he had washed onto the Crossing, claimed by Cullen and taken as a Trinket into the murk and mire. Tyr had help to solidify those stories with the deeds he had done those first few seasons he had worked his way up in rank. Proving that he was capable, and not just another shiny toy for Cullen to play with. Those tendencies still lingered in the background of the General’s mind, the desires to do such cruel misdeeds. But he couldn’t. He needed to be a role model, a leader into a better future. So that sons like Vadim; innocent and trusting by nature, were not looked on by harsh judgmental gazes just because he had been born somewhere not to his control. So that sons like Frey did not have to look so burdened or tired because of the sins of their fathers. But the revelation of the Marauder was troublesome, and it instantly brought a harsh frown to the General’s expression.

Before Tyr could question Frey further, Rehoboam was there. The tension that hung between the two younger stallions was nearly suffocating and the General felt his muscles tense as his weight shifted from one hoof to the other. Still, he did not interrupt. Letting the Marauder defend, and also explain himself. By time the painted stallion was done, Tyr was left to mull over his words, carefully deciding his next words so that he didn’t further the fire between the two.

“As of now, it only looks like the three of us live here.” Tyr said, his green-blue gaze resting on Rehoboam. “You’re sister is safe for the time being. Should the situation change; should a brother decide to join us that seems suspicious, then she can have sanctuary in the Peak.” He doubted it would soothe the worried stallion any, but it was the best solution he could offer between the two. Tyr wasn’t a baby sitter, and he wasn’t the Boss, so it left him little room or responsibility to settle the scabble over a mare. If it had been Tyr, he would have challenged the other, and who ever won would settle the matter. But he wasn’t about to suggest actual fighting amongst themselves when they had so little held them together as it was.

“I doubt any amount of promises or good deeds we do will ever change the opinions of others. The cruelty the Lagoon had committed seasons past is deep rooted in the Islands. Instilling a code of conduct will have to be for the benefit of ourselves. To know our home is how we want it.” Tyr said in response to Rehoboam’s idea, before his gaze flickered over to Frey. “Which is why I asked for the opinion of what should be done.” As the Lagoon belonged to all of them.
