Glass Ceiling all over the floor in little pieces

I remember in Wichita, some little old lady back in 81 called Channel 3's switchboard to complain that women should not be reading the news. We'd just gotten a co-anchor for longtime loner Greg Gamer. Shelley somebody or other.

Then the only female reporter on staff was Dave Helling's future bride Teri Shaeffer who was relegated to just school and fluff stories, tho she diversified into hard news as the industry did.

Like so many facets of the creative arts, women have outnumbered men in public relations, movie and TV executives roles and owners, and certainly studio news reading. Mary Tyler Moore played the traditional emotional but spunky news reporter under "Mr Grant" but I think she ended up owning the production company.

Can anyone dispute that Rachel Maddow's the best all round anchor on cable and NBC, CNN and Fox all have far more high viz women as field reporters? THAT GLASS CEILING IS LONG GONE.

Our Dirty old Man must be in lust heaven!
