Re(5): Kim Byrnes left WDAF

Seems like a karma that Signal Hill can't manage good top managers either in the newsroom or upstairs--for many years!

When I was young, I dreamed of working at WHB 710 that I listened to and Channel 4.

I managed my dreams to work somewhat briefly at both but they were disappointments and I scored low among the places where I'd also worked.

Is it coincidental that in both cases, stations in Wichita did better broadcasting at the time and the work cultures were better than here in KC, where the money was better as I'm sure also were the rate cards?

Wichita was much more creative, I sensed as media markets go. Now I'm in a market way down, even lower than T town. I admit I can't stand anything about it--news, wx, talent, even music. So I get my media on the internet listening to better stations up the ladder.

The least small market's a Gray station which has a lot of markets so should be able to coach their properties' talent, at least by reviewing tapes but they sound like fifth graders taking turns reading aloud in class. All that can be coached out of them.

Today, overly formatted radio sounds about the same everywhere but for the spot production quality and kind of their advertisers. Only the music's better in smaller markets because it's chosen by humans, not Billboard. Larger radio markets all sound like they have the same consultant.

Media people I've met here have the same complaint, it's hard to hire good help and its harder to keep em.

This is why I often use this moniker, 'Just sayin.'
