The silver mare did seem to recognize him, after her initial defensiveness at his approach. She crossed the oasis toward him with purpose, looking unchanged since the last time he had seen her. Fell watched her with a mixture of wariness and curiosity, still unsure where he stood with his immediate family.

She asked Rougaru had sent him, and Fell shook his head, expression carefully guarded. The tone of her question suggested she was not on good terms with their father, which was interesting, but not entirely surprising since Fell had found Paradise to be empty. Had Rougaru left the islands altogether? The Marwari stallion exchanged breaths with his half-sister, trying to read her. He was no fool; he knew Nyimara was dangerous, and coming into contact with her was a risky move even if he was in her good graces. No matter how this meeting went down, Fell would have to watch his back.

She asked why he was here, and Fell’s hooked ears flipped back in irritation. You know I can’t answer that. She was looking at him with growing suspicion, which ignited his irritation further, but also awoke his curiosity. Nyimara was alone, and suspicious of even her siblings… that had to mean something. Still, Fell hadn’t the patience to find out. He blew, his annoyance evident in the dust that swirled around his chest from the breath. His tail snapped once against a velvet-black flank.

From the little he knew about his sister, Fell was certain that aggression could only ever devolve, and would never be forgiven. He made an effort to relax, lowering his head and shaking out the feral mess of his mane. He stepped around Nyimara and made his way toward the oasis, long ebon tail swishing lazily at his hindquarters as he lowered his head to drink. His body language was confident and non-threatening, and Nyimara could interpret that however she wanted. When he finished drinking, he turned back to his half-sister, stepped toward her, and then past. If she felt in a mood to trust him, and maybe tell him what the hell was going on with her and Rougaru and the rest of the herd, that was her choice.

Otherwise, he was on his way out of her hair.
